Aromatherapy

The scent of a freshly cut orange, lavender in the warm evening air or rosemary rubbed between your fingers: plants can reach us instantly.

In essential oils, their distinctive aromas are captured in concentrated form. Depending on the plant, they are extracted from flowers, leaves, peel, bark, resins, seeds, wood or roots. These essences are highly concentrated and deserve to be used with awareness and care.

I use selected dōTERRA essential oils in two of my treatments, in very different ways. During the holistic singing bowl session, the essences are inhaled consciously. Their aromas become part of the experience alongside mindful touch, selected instruments and the vibrations of the Tibetan singing bowls.

For foot reflexology massage, I carefully blend the oils with a carrier oil and incorporate them into the treatment through the feet. Their scent is a consciously chosen part of each session.

Essential oils also offer many possibilities for everyday life. A drop of dōTERRA Lemon gives a glass of water a wonderfully fresh citrus flavour in the morning. In a diffuser, selected essences can change the atmosphere of a room. In the kitchen, they can add flavour to food and drinks, while blended with a carrier oil they can accompany soothing massages and body rituals. Some oils are also specifically intended for internal use.

I chose dōTERRA because purity and transparent quality testing are important to me. Every batch is analysed using a range of methods to verify its composition and detect possible contaminants. These include gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, chirality testing and heavy metal analysis.

Personal advice is an essential part of this for me, as the appropriate choice, dosage and application vary from one oil to another. I will explain how each essence is intended to be used, how to dilute it correctly and which guidance is important for safe use.
